CPD Courses
Upcoming Courses 2026
The Essence of Recovery – Whiplash, Trauma and Pain Management in Integrative Bodywork Practice.
Following the successful “Samurai Shiatsu for Children: fit for school” programme held in March with Svenja Schaper, we have two further opportunities to study with international teachers this summer.
Leisa Belmore
13th & 14th June
We welcome Leisa Bellmore who is a Namikoshi style practitioner and experienced researcher from Canada. Leisa will be offering two topics over the weekend: Shiatsu for the effective treatment of migraine & Listening with three senses: “reading non-verbal cues, interpreting paralanguage, and interpreting tactile information from our hands are especially helpful when working with vulnerable people such as those recovering from trauma, with mental health issues, neuro-divergent people and those living with dementia.”
The weekend also includes a supportive, practitioner-friendly session on writing treatment records in a way that is useful for research and evidence-building —helping our profession communicate Shiatsu’s impact more clearly.
The Glasgow School of Shiatsu has hosted many Continuing Professional Development courses over the years, to support our graduates and practitioners of Shiatsu and other modalities. Professional associations usually require CPD from their professional members, and the Shiatsu Society specifies 15 hours per year of CPD, which can be formal or informal. Our CPD weekends provide 12 hours.
Nini Melvin
Sunday 12th July
Nini Melvin joins us to lead a day of Exploring our Element Identities Through Five Element Games
A day-long seminar using the HUMANATURE Five Element Deck with the card creator and international teacher, Nini Melvin, and Elaine Liechti, Principal of the Glasgow School of Shiatsu and author. Using meridian qigong, we will explore the interconnection between personal and planetary healing, finding more balance on our healing path.
Upcoming Courses 2027
Philippe Vandenabeele
May 2027
The Essence of Recovery – Whiplash, Trauma and Pain Management in Integrative Bodywork Practice.
In May 2027 we are delighted to host Philippe Vandenabeele on a 3-day postgraduate workshop. Elaine travelled to Japan in spring 2025 to study under Philippe and has found immense benefit from his techniques and approaches in her own clinical practice. The workshop runs 1-3 May.
“The Essence of Recovery – Whiplash, Trauma and Pain Management in Integrative Bodywork Practice”
“This three-day postgraduate workshop applies the Shinzui Shuhō – Core Bodywork model to the assessment and treatment of whiplash, trauma, and persistent pain. During this intensive course, we will explore how East Asian meridian work, Ampuku-inspired visceral therapy, and craniosacral and fascial approaches can be integrated into a coherent, whole-person treatment process.”
Further details and costs will be publicised in due course. Please watch Facebook and emails for GSS for further information.
