Glasgow School of Shiatsu – Shiatsu Training Clinic Information
The Glasgow School of Shiatsu runs supervised training clinics in order for our final year students (and occasionally 2nd year students) to have experience of working with the public in a clinical setting.
The clinic takes place in a large room with up to four people receiving treatment at one time. Therefore, you will be in a room with others when you have your session. Sessions last one hour. The clinics are supervised by senior Teachers from the Glasgow School of Shiatsu, who are there to assist the students and to ensure that receivers have an appropriate and relaxing treatment.
Our clinic takes place at KSD House, 7 Ashley Street, Glasgow G3 6DR. This is the Tibetan Buddhist centre just off Woodlands Road in the Charing Cross area.
There are ample public transport links (bus and underground close by); parking on Ashley St is payable so we suggest that you park on Lyndoch Street.
Our Covid precautions are that you must wear a face covering at all times (unless medically exempt), sanitise hands on arrival, and bring warm, loose comfortable clothing such as jogging bottoms and sweater to change into for your session. We will have windows open for ventilation, so warm clothing is essential although we also provide blankets.
Please ring the front door bell when you arrive and leave shoes on the shelves in the hall. You will be welcomed into the practice room at your treatment time.
The student will ask you some questions about your general health and any specific issues (e.g. sore back, headaches), and will work out a treatment for you. Please make the student and supervising Teacher aware of any serious health conditions you may have. As we practice traditional Shiatsu, the session will take place on a futon at floor level; cushions for comfortable padding are provided. Please also be aware that these students are in training, so may be nervous, or may need intervention or corrections from the Teacher.
We ask for a £15 donation towards the cost of running the clinic (room hire etc).
Sessions are available at 10.15, 12.00, 2.15 and 4.00 each day.
